Indiana will continue to take an age-based approach to vaccine rollout, prioritizing those in the 60 and above age group next and then turning incrementally to those 50 and above, state officials said Wednesday.
Despite pressure from teachers to consider essential workers in vaccine prioritization, state health officials said they will continue to expand eligibility by birth year rather than profession.
Those in the 60 to 65 age group, about 442,000 people, will be added to the eligibility list “as soon as possible,” said Dr. Lindsay Weaver, chief medical officer, at the governor’s weekly coronavirus update.
