Career Interests Assessment
Now that you’re in high school you may be starting to think about what your plans after graduation should look like. When you choose a career that matches your overall interests, you’re more likely to enjoy your job and be successful. If you’re a 21st Century Scholar, taking a career assessment is one of your Scholar Success Program activities.
A great place to start is to take an online interest assessment, which will ask you a series of questions about work activities you find enjoyable and interesting, and then provide you with insights and recommendations based on your answers.
As you explore careers, it helps to know which skills, talents, and personality traits you bring to a job. An interest assessment can help you learn which careers might be the best fit for you. It will give you a broad list of career options that match your interests.
One such tool is the Indiana Career Explorer, indianacareerexplorer.com, an online education and career planning system currently used by many school districts. After registering, complete the 60-question assessment. Based on your answers, the results will display the top 3 industries (out of 17 industries). Within each industry is a list of potential careers, including the career path, education requirements, and average salary.
