Indiana will soon open the vaccine floodgates.
On Tuesday Gov. Eric Holcomb announced that all Indiana adults ages 16 and older will be eligible to be vaccinated against the virus that has been a scourge on society for more than a year, starting March 31.
Holcomb said he made the decision to open up vaccine eligibility after hearing from the federal government that the state should expect a large increase in vaccine supply beginning the last week in March.
His announcement came after Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine took a similar step, inviting all adults 40 and older in his state to be vaccinated. Monday DeWine said that anyone 16 and older can now be vaccinated through any unfilled appointments.
It’s an approach more states are taking.
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker Wednesday announced that any adult over 16 in his state will be eligible to be vaccinated effective April 19.
